Make This Skyline Diffuser / Wall Art

Build article: http://www.ibuildit.ca/Woodworking%20Projects/skyline-diffuser.html

Video showing how I finished this and mounted it on the wall in my office:

Sanding video on my scrap bin channel:

I made this mainly because I like the way they look. Even though I did not design it the “proper” way, it still has some effect of the sound in my office, as shown in the video on my other channel.

Must have been a pain in the ass

ClexxxOfficial says:

built one too. mine is just a little bigger tho. did you just do a random pattern? just wanted to let you know that diffusors dont have a random pattern. they are based on prime root sequences or qrd sequences.

10/10 for the idea but 5/10 for the finish. There are a lot of chinks between the blocks

wonderful

Rafe Zetter says:

That looks really good – I’ve been considering making a block wall art thing for a while, now I’ve been given a heads up as to how much more work it might be 🙂 think I’ll bypass sanding the ends though as I’ve got an idea for it’s cosmetic appearance that would negate that.

Looks great mate ! I don’t know why but I find it soothing to look at a seemingly random and chaotic structure.

Tom Joad says:

Looks cool. I made something very similar a couple of years ago in a horizontal plain. A few of us however spent awhile boring and drilling random small holes in the base of the buildings and windows. I then used LED lights to illuminate probably 80% of the
buildings to give it night time feel.

If you think skyline diffusers are junk then take a look online at how much they sell for. If you have a shop like this you could make a killing

Jason Smith says:

This is super cool, been wanting to make one! That said, not sure hard surface, right-angles diffuse any sound : P

Pedro Araújo says:

Awesome work!
