DIY Modern Dining Table w/ Matching Benches | Modern Builds

Today on Modern Builds I’m making a matching DIY metal & wood dining table set. The two benches store directly underneath the table top for convenient storage. A little Woodworking, a little Metalworking…. something for everybody.

Focux says:

Not gonna lie, that looks like crap. It looks like a park bench outside a homeless shelter.

doesrealityexist says:

Nasty screws , use a slotted heavy screws for a vintage look. Or why not run a thread rod through and some nuts on the ends?? Then the metal stays flat on top with wood. Learn to clamp wood – clamps should be opposite every other clamp to maintain a flat surface.

Peter P says:

Classy. Nice work.

Painting the metal white will make it more classy.

Aeron Tudor says:

nice… you should start your on online store and start auctioning off projects you complete and if the demand is high do more and sell. Also, showing some more bicep muscle will be nice! you sexy af!

People pay for that? Not durable at all.

Ewoodster says:

I really like the way the table looks. However, I couldn’t live with all the tearouts of the wood. 2x4s are the wrong material for such a project. I get how your channel is focussed on hobby woodworkers, but if splinters in your hands are the result, then the product is not up to the task.

Kevin Long says:

we need wood working for welders haha

Great job- How’s it holding up now?

Brina says:

Nice job Mike..
Everything you make…
I want..

Alexander Determan says:

You don’t need a specific cutting oil for drilling steel lol just about any lubrication will work… They even make cutting wax. Any old oil should be good enough for reducing wear.

Ritchie88 says:

I’ve always used cobalt bits for drilling in steel. I’m assuming it doesn’t really make much of a difference?

n2cable says:

Do you sell these or other items? Is this your full time job/Business?

Vijaya Sekhar Reddy Musalireddy gari says:

Address and phone number required for getting the benches

Sandy Nataf says:

Brian Frishcosy says:

That’s a beautiful project! I love the clean, simple lines.

Mason Outward says:

Fantastic build Mike. Really love it. I think I’ll try to make the bench for our house! Thanks for all you do!

McNoodles says:

I have used vegetable or canola oil a few times drilling steel. Worked great. Many people already have these in their kitchen.

yfelwulf says:

Should have tried a vertical rib on the legs.

Clorox Bleach says:

I’ve been following your channel for a while and have completed a number of projects you’ve presented. Congratulations on all your success brother, it’s deserved. Thanks for presenting us with these projects too!
