Brush Cleaning | DIY Method Under $5

A brush cleaning tutorial using a DIY mat that you can make for under $5! If you’re looking for an effective, but cheap method for cleaning makeup brushes, this cheap way to clean makeup brushes gets the job done without breaking the bank to do it. I usually use this makeup brush cleaner to deep clean makeup brushes once a week and spot clean them after every use on a daily basis. You can find hot glue guns inexpensively in stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. and plastic plates, well, they’re a dime a dozen … I actually had a bunch leftover from when we last moved!

Great Hack – I bought one of those oven mitts that have different texture patterns all over from target that looked exactly like the brush cleaning gloves you see that cost about $30 – think it cost either $6 or $8 AUD and works like a treat! 😛

Cindy Troxler says:

This looks so awesome great idea! I use a Platex rubber glove and put soapy and water and sudsy by rubbing the dirty brush all around the glove.

I have the $40 Sigma spa glove… not worth it. I heard about gluing the dots and lines on a clipboard since they are so cheap which I will keep in mind for if that glove somehow gets damaged.

I found a silicone spoon rest at Dollar Tree! has 2 ends and tons of interesting bumps! best find ever lol

I have another suggestion if you’re not very crafty or maybe you don’t have the time to make this, amazon, wish, and eBay sell makeup brush cleaning mats for less than 10 dollars 🙂 I’ve even seen some under 5!

AnastasiaBeaverhausen says:

I ordered a really inexpensive (maybe $4) pair of red silicon oven mitts from Amazon that have raised bumps all over them and they’ve worked so well to clean my brushes.

I use a textured silicone pot holder that you suggested a couple years ago and its the best $2.99 I ever spent!

Lucy SOMEONE says:

You are so smart OMG

Great hack! I found the Sigma dupe for $7 at our local Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Last time I was in the store, they still had them in stock. The only difference is that it’s about half the size.

SAMINA OWJ says:

wait so…. did you say the original mat cost is $3 bucks?? and then at the end you say that the DIY cost you only $5 bucks?? I dont get it, maybe I heard it wrong, but I replayed it tons of times and I cant stop hearing “3 dollars” and “5 Bucks”
